TRAI works out the details of the revised ADC and IUC

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is working out the details of the revised ADC and interconnection usage charge (IUC), which include allowing access providers the flexibility to charge a higher commission on incoming international long distance (ILD) calls. At present, Indian operators are allowed a flat termination charge of Re 0.30 per minute, which the regulator is planning to increase to Rs 3 per minute for incoming ISD calls.

International norms allow access operators to charge up to 34 cents (Rs 15.30) per minute. This would enable Indian operators to negotiate with international carriers to carry outgoing ISD calls at a cheaper rate. The regulator is also considering introducing a revenue share of 4 per cent of the operator's annual revenues to be collected as ADC as against the existing norm of ADC being calculated on a per-minute basis.
