Aircel intends to invest Rs 84 billion to accelerate its expansion plans in India and more than double its subscriber base to 100 million over the next two years. Aircel, which is 74 per cent owned by Malaysia's Maxis Communications Berhad, is targeting to expand its coverage to the Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan circles by June 2010. The operator also plans to double its base stations to 80,000 by 2012 apart from investing in new retail outlets, value-added services and increasing the scale of its Wi-Max operations.
