Sterlite Technologies has received a Rs 240 million order from BSNL for supplying optic fibre cables. According to the terms of the contract, Sterlite will supply its high-density ribbon fibre optic cables, which BSNL will install in about 100 city sites across the country. Meanwhile, with the growth in demand for fibre cable from the telecom and power sectors, both domestic and global, Sterlite is scaling up its operations. It is doubling the manufacturing capacity at its optic fibre facility to 12 million km, and tripling the manufacturing capacity at its optic fibre cables facility to 6 million km.
