DoT has awarded a pan-Indian GSM licence to Reliance Communications Limited (RCOM). RCOM currently offers GSM services in eight telecom circles through its wholly owned subsidiary, Reliance Telecom. Meanwhile, though DoT had earlier allowed Shyam Telecom and Himachal Futuristic Communications Limited (HFCL) to offer services using dual technology, these companies have not yet made the licence fee payment of Rs 16.51 billion.
