The government has delicensed 50 MHz of spectrum in the 5.8 GHz band for commercial use. Consequently, a number of internet service providers (ISPs) are now likely to offer services in this frequency. DoT is also attempting to release spectrum for Wi-Max services in both the 2.5 GHz and 3.5 GHz frequencies, currently being used by the INSAT series of satellite communications and satellite television broadcast respectively.
