Airtel moves SC to allow talks with government on AGR dues and timeline
November 28, 2019
Bharti Airtel has appealed to the Supreme Court (SC) to allow the telco and government to agree on quantum of adjusted gross revenue (AGR) based dues and the timeline for payments.
Airtel had filed an application in the SC recently seeking modification of the court’s order of October 24, 2019 to permit Airtel and the government to ascertain the amount to be paid and come to a mutually acceptable basis for the discharge of the same over an agreed period of time.
As per Department of Telecommunications (DoT) Airtel’s AGR dues comes over Rs 355 billion in licence fees, spectrum usage charges, interest and penalties. The figure may rise as the ministry is still updating its numbers.
