As per Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), the company’s voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) has surpassed its internal estimates as more than 13,500 employees have opted for the scheme so far.

MTNL had initially expected around 13,500 VRS optees till closing but the numbers have already reached 13,532 employees, with nearly two weeks left to go before the closing date for exercising the option.

However, the company has promised to accommodate as many employees as possible.

As per MTNL, it is expecting the numbers to reach the range of 14,500 to 15,000 by the closing date, taking the total count of eligible employees to 16,300.

Around 77,000 Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) employees have opted for the recently launched VRS until now.
