Red Hat has entered into a partnership with Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL) to transform its distributed network data centres to open standards and open interfaces based ‘Universal Cloud’.

Red Hat’s OpenStack Platform will enable VIL to design efficient pods, which can help it to reduce latency and enable an optimal user experience.

VIL plans to transform more than 100 of its data centres across a “Universal Cloud.” The shared software platform will be running multiple workloads such as network, IT and third party applications across its distributed cloud locations.

Further, under the collaboration, VIL plans to set up a DevOps team, for driving more consistent innovation and extend the platform to start-ups and developers. VIL will be deploying Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform to automate workflows thereby extending self-provisioning to VIL enterprise customers.
