Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) plans to follow up on the outstanding dues worth Rs 30 billion from its enterprise clients by November 2019.

The move comes at a time when BSNL is battling severe liquidity crunch and had delayed salary dues to its employees for the second time in 2019. However, the salaries for July 2019 were recently released.

The telco is also planning to rent out its premises at various locations for which the rental income target has been set at about Rs 10 billion in 2019, in comparison to Rs 2 billion previously. Further, BSNL plans to lease out more spaces and increase utilisation of its existing buildings.

The telecom PSU has also initiated a 'streamline' outsourced functions in order to save up to Rs 2 billion a year and is hoping to rationalise power bills to derive 15 per cent additional cost savings.

BSNL’s estimated loss stands at around Rs 140 billion. Further, the telco faces a gap of about Rs 8 billion between its monthly revenue and expenses.
