According to a report by RedSeer Consulting, the digital advertising spend in the regional media will see a growth from $300 million in 2018 to $3 billion by 2022, backed by the growing base of online users.

According to the research, the top 50 cities accounts for less that 20 per cent of the internet user base, which would further continue to decrease in the next 5 years.  The Indian digital media is mainly driven by the small town and villages, due to the affordability and aspirations; it has added users at 8X speed in the past 10 years.

Certain steps are been undertaken to support vernacular users. For instance, Ola provides support in 12 languages while Paytm offers in 11 languages.

The research report was based on a survey conducted across 3,000 people across 121 cities and towns in India. The report has stated that Facebook and Google account for 80 per cent of Indian digital advertising spend.
