The Odisha government is planning to launch a disaster resilient data centre in the state. The move comes after the state’s data centre had suffered consequential damage and multiple fibre disruptions due to the tropical cyclone, Fani, which also damaged power infrastructure in the region.

According to the government, a detailed study on disaster resilient, cloud-based data centre which has multiple power back-ups has been undertaken. Further, the planned data centre will be loaded with cyber security features and will have a standard operating procedure (SOP) for easy hosting of government applications. It will also offer both scalability and inter-operability.

The government’s state electronics and information technology (IT) department is talking to multiple entities including National Informatics Centre (NIC), National Data Centre (NDC), Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for setting up the data centre.

The data centre is expected to be operational within three months.
