Reliance Jio has partnered Facebook Inc to launch a country-wide digital literacy drive in India called, Digital Udaan for the increasing number of JioPhone users and other first-time internet users.

Under the initiative, Jio will engage with users every Saturday to apprise them on features of its 4G voice over long-term evolution (VoLTE) feature phone, the use of various applications and internet safety, including the use of Facebook to connect with friends and family in a simple and secure way. The digital literacy initiative will be undertaken via audio visual training in 10 regional languages.

According to Jio, Digital Udaan will initially be launched in nearly 200 different locations across 13 states. The initiative will subsequently reach over 7,000 locations, empowering millions of JioPhone users and other first-time internet users.

The operator has partnered Facebook to ensure modules developed under Digital Udaan are relevant for people in these cities and localities, and will also provide train-the-trainer sessions and training videos and information brochures.
