eSIM-based device shipments to reach two billion units by 2025, says Counterpoint Research

According to a study by Counterpoint Research, shipments of eSIM-based devices are expected to increase from 364 million units in 2018 to two billion units by 2025.

This growth will be mainly driven by the rise in adoption of smartphones and enterprise internet of things (IoT) devices.

The per annum growth rate of other connected devices such as mobile hotspots, routers, connected PCs, drones and smartwatches is expected to be higher in comparison to smartphones and B2B IoT devices. This is because they have a relatively smaller base of adoption at present.

Nonetheless, in terms of shipment volumes, smartphones and B2B IoT devices will lead.
