Bharti Infratel records 6 per cent decline in net profit during quarter ended September 2018
Bharti Infratel has registered a six per cent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) decline in net profit during the quarter ended September 2018. The company’s consolidated net profit fell from Rs 6.38 billion during the quarter ended September 2017 to Rs 6 billion during the quarter ended September 2018. This could be attributed to a sharp fall in co-location of telecom sites due to the recent merger of Vodafone India and Idea Cellular.
However, the quarterly consolidated revenue increased by one per cent from 36.48 billion to Rs 36.88 billion during the same period. Meanwhile, the company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) fell by eight per cent to Rs 15.06 billion while the operating free cash flow fell by 18 per cent to Rs 9.98 billion during the period under consideration.
Apart from this, the company’s tower base increased by 1,168 Y-o-Y and 364 sequentially to 92,173 during the quarter ended September 2018. On the other hand, the company’s co-locations declined by 26,266 during the quarter under consideration, thereby reducing its total count to 174,512.
