According to a report by Colliers Research on “Top Locations in Asia: Technology Sector”, Bengaluru is one of the best urban locations for technology enterprises in Asia. Bengaluru, Singapore and Shenzen have been considered as the top locations for starting or expanding technology operations in Asia.

In terms of the number of start-ups, Bengaluru secured the first place primarily because of its socio-economic strengths and an average expected annual Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth of 9.6 per cent till 2022. Additionally, about 24 per cent of the employees in the city belong to the information technology (IT) sector.

Further, Bengaluru has acquired an average of $4 billion in the last three years as start-up investments, which is the highest in Asia.

The report is based on a comprehensive study of 16 cities in developed and emerging markets across Asia and examines about 50 aspects including socio-economic, property and human factors in order to determine the viability of these cities as tech hubs.
