Around 140,000 vacant jobs in the field of AI and big data, says NASSCOM report

According to a report by the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), around 140,000 jobs are lying vacant in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analytics across various sectors in India. The total demand for jobs in these fields stands at 510,000, out of which 370,000 jobs are occupied.

Further as per the report, employee deficit is expected to increase to 230,000 and the total demand for jobs is expected to increase to 800,000 million by 2021.

Moreover, NASSCOM is planning to involve universities and colleges along with companies like Wipro and Tech Mahindra in order to meet the shortage of skilled and qualified employees. This initiative aims to provide the relevant skills to around one million employees and another one million prospective employees and students.

Currently, NASSCOM has a user base of more than 200,000 from member firms who have committed to re-skill their employees.
