Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is planning to include WhatsApp to its voice over internet protocol (VoIP) app, Wings.

According to BSNL, short message service (SMS) will soon be integrated and WhatsApp configured to the Wings app. The app-based service is expected to be available from July 25, 2018.

As per the plan, BSNL will be using a separate numbering series for internet telephony which will also allow subscribers to authenticate and use WhatsApp through a number provided for the Wings app.

With the Wings app, BSNL sunscribers will be able to make unlimited video and voice calls on any telco’s data or Wi-Fi network. The service enables making unlimited local and national voice calls at Rs 1,099 annually and gives flexibility to users to dial any number and connect their landline.

BSNL customers will be able to avail this service by either registering online or through 700 customers service centres (CSC) across the country. Customers can also visit any of BSNL’s 600,000 strong franchisee network of retailers to avail the service.
