Charles Wong appointed as president of Oppo’s India operations

Chinese handset manufacturer Oppo has appointed Charles Wong as the new India president. Wong will be responsible for steering Oppo’s expansion in India.

Wong will report to Alen Wu, who has now been appointed as the vice president of global operation. Wong has nearly two decades of experience in sales and marketing.

According to Oppo, his vision and skills will be responsible for steering the company’s expansion in India and achieve the company’s vision to be a leader in the market.

Oppo has lost significant market share in the past year to Xiaomi and Huawei in India. It had 5.6 per cent smartphone share in the first quarter of 2018, down from 9.9 per cent share year-on-year.
