Lenovo Group has agreed to buy a majority stake in Fujitsu’s personal computer (PC) unit for up to $269 million. The move is likely to help the company in addressing the issue of dwindling sales as more people switch to mobile devices.

It is learnt that Lenovo has been looking for ways to strengthen its core business. Lenovo’s weak business in the PC unit segment resulted in a profit decline during the quarter ended September 2017.

Lenovo has stated that it is likely to pay 17.85 billion yen in cash and 2.55-12.75 billion yen based on performance to 2020 for a 51 per cent stake in Fujitsu Client Computing Limited.
