Digital India can increase India’s GDP by 20-30 per cent by 2025; says MeitY’s K.J. Alphons

According to Kannanthanam Joseph Alphons, Minister of State, Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), the Digital India program has the potential to provide an incremental 20 per cent -30 per cent increase in India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2025.

The program that was launched in July 2015 has seen several of its flagship projects move to the execution phase. At an ASSOCHAM event, Alphons said that several applications and services that have been developed and have seen significant adoption.

The MyGov application, which provides a platform for citizens to interact with the government, has over one million users. Also, the cloud storage service, DigiLocker, is now being used by four million users.
