Ericsson reports a year-on-year decline of 24 per cent in its India revenues for the quarter ended March 2016

Ericsson has reported a year-on-year decline of around 24 per cent in its India revenues, which decreased from SEK 3.5 billion during the quarter ended March 2015 to SEK 2.7 billion during the corresponding quarter in 2016.  The company generated SEK 1.3 billion from telecom network business, SEK 1.2 billion from global services and SEK 0.2 billion from support solutions from the Indian telecom market.

Further, India, with a revenue share of five per cent, was the third largest contributor in Ericsson's overall revenue. The country’s share, however, was seven per cent in the corresponding period in 2015.  Meanwhile, the share of the U.S market’s increased by 5 percentage points to 27 per cent in the quarter ended March 2016; while China and Japan increased their shares by 1 percentage point each at 9 per cent and 4 per cent, respectively.

Meanwhile, Ericsson's global operating profit increased from SEK 2.13 billion during the quarter ended March 2015 to SEK 3.48 billion during the corresponding quarter in 2016. The company’s total revenues for the January-March 2016 quarter stood at SEK 52.2 billion.
