RJIL launches 8,100 km submarine cable system in collaboration with other operators

Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL), in collaboration with other telecom operators including Vodafone, Telekom Malaysia, Omantel, Etisalat, and Dialog Axiata has announced the commencement of operations of the 100 Gbps Bay of Bengal Gateway (BBG) submarine cable system that will give Mumbai and Chennai high bandwidth link to South East Asian countries as well as the Middle East.

The 8,100-km cable system links Malaysia and Singapore to Oman and the UAE, with branches in India and Sri Lanka. RJIL owns and operates the strategically undersea cable landing facility in Chennai while Vodafone manages the Mumbai unit of the facility.
