Telenor reports 29.12 per cent increase in operating loss from India operations

The Telenor Group has announced its results for quarter ended December 2015. The company’s revenue from India operations grew from NOK 1,187 million during quarter ended December 2014 to NOK 1,436 million during the corresponding quarter in 2015, an increase of 20.97 per cent. This resulted in positive earnings before interest, taxation, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of NOK 41 million during quarter ended December 2015 as against negative EBITDA of NOK 97 million during quarter ended December 2014.  However, the company’s operating loss increased from NOK 285 million to NOK 368 million during the same period, an increase of 29.12 per cent.

Meanwhile, the operator reported 16 per cent year-on-year growth in its subscriber base which reached 42.6 million as of December 2015. However, the monthly average revenue per user stagnated at NOK 11.
