RJIL awards Euro 20 million contract to France-based Saft for its Li-ion storage solutions
Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) has awarded a contract of Euro 20 million to France-based Saft to provide the former with storage solutions. As part of the contract, Saft will supply Evolion Li-ion battery systems to RJIL's base transceiver station (BTS) sites to support its ongoing 4G roll-outs.
Since 2013, RJIL has awarded about Euro 57 million worth of orders to Saft for its Li-ion storage solutions. The Evolion battery systems are being rolled out to over 16,000 4G BTS sites across India. The new battery systems will enable an increase in the backup capacity of existing sites to respond to growth in telecom traffic. The solutions will provide backup power to ensure total continuity of the mobile network, with reliability and long service life even in extreme temperatures and in high humidity.
