Huawei wins network expansion contract from Pakistan's Ufone

Telecom network solutions provider Huawei Technologies has won a $550 million GSM contract to expand Pakistani leading telecom operator Ufone's wireless network. Under the agreement, Huawei will provide its EnerG GSM solution to expand Ufone's network to cover over 1,500 cities, towns, villages and all major highways in the country. The contract also includes Huawei's new-generation GSM dual-density BTSs to lower the cost of network construction and O&M expenditure. Separately, Sri Lanka Telecom has also partnered with Huawei in a project that is expected to enable value-added services such as high speed broadband internet, VoIP, IP-TV, video-on-demand, elearning and gaming.
