RJIL awards packet microwave radio deal to DragonWave for LTE launch
Reliance Jio Infocomm (RJIL) has selected DragonWave Solutions as a packet microwave radio systems provider for the company’s planned launch of long term evolution (LTE) services at the end of 2014.
Under the deal, Canada-based DragonWave will provide 5,000 Horizon Compact+ links in support of the Indian operator’s plan to roll out extensive, nationwide LTE network. In addition, the deployment will also include services to be delivered by DragonWave’s Indian joint venture, DragonWave HFCL.
Earlier, RJIL had conducted trials using the company’s Horizon Compact+ solution and found it to be acceptable to be used as transport system for high capacity backhaul to support its soon to be launched LTE network.
