Sudhir Tangri brings to the table over two decades of experience spanning the electronics, semiconductor, telecom, and test and measurement (T&M) industries. Currently, he is country manager, sales, marketing and support, electronic measurement group (EMG), Agilent Technologies India.

Outlining the major challenges before him, Tangri says, “The key challenge is to maintain and strengthen the company’s leadership position in the T&M space by enhancing the customer experience through leading-edge technology, products and people. The company is also engaging with multiple stakeholders to increase the market size of the T&M industry and to ensure growth for Agilent in traditional as well as emerging/ new segments within the industry.”

Tangri foresees huge growth opportunities for T&M players with the roll-out of 3G and 4G networks. Riding on the back of LTE and LTE-Advanced technologies, the instrumentation industry is poised to witness increased demand for T&M products and solutions from infrastructure providers as well as handset manufacturers. Further, the growing popularity of LTE is driving growth in the semiconductor industry. “With increasing demand for data services, operators face the challenge of monetising these data services. To meet this challenge, operators are expected to make huge investments in T&M solutions,” he says.

Having worked in senior leadership positions across industry verticals, Tangri is of the view that each assignment brings its own set of challenges and opportunities. “The challenges keep changing with every profile and as one progresses in one’s career. For example, the challenges accompanying a leadership role vary greatly from those of a business role. Similarly, a different set of issues will come along in a sales and marketing role.”

For Tangri, the key accomplishments of his career have come through roles that offered him a higher element of people engagement. As a manager, he believes in bringing about change by delivering growth through change management by focusing on people. Also, for achieving goals, he believes it is necessary to involve the entire team in the decision-making process.

Besides his love for work, it is his daily two-hour fitness regime that keeps Tangri going. “One needs to reinvent oneself to keep up with the times,” he says. “Earlier, I used to focus on jogging and weightlifting to stay fit, now I am exploring alternatives like yoga to lead a healthy life.”
