Thailand-based operator, TrueMove, has awarded a contract to Ericsson for rolling out its network on the 2.1-GHz spectrum band, say news reports.

The network is expected to be a multi-mode one with the possibility of dynamic bandwidth allocation between UMTS and LTE depending on network conditions.

According to Ericsson, the technology selected for the same, the RBS 6000, supports bonding between multiple IMT bands and can also switch between FDD and TDD. Though as implemented, the 2.1-GHz network is separate from TrueMove’s existing 850 network.

Ericsson will be responsible for project management, system integration, interoperability testing, network design and implementation.

Further, the 2.1-GHz LTE network expansion is expected to extend to the greater Bangkok area and 15 major cities across the country by the end of the year with 2,000 base stations.
