UIDAI appoints HCL Infosystems to manage its Central ID Repository

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has awarded a seven year contract to HCL Infosystems for implementing and managing the Central ID Repository (CIDR) for it.

As the managed services provider (MSP) for the UIDAI project, HCL Infosystems will be responsible for procurement and installation of the information-technology infrastructure, implementation of information security management systems and operations support and maintenance. The company will also extend database administration and support services to UIDAI.

B.B.Nanawati, deputy director general, technology, UIDAI said, “With the award of the MSP contract to HCL Infosystems, UIDAI looks forward to maximising efficiency and to bring to fruition the goal of providing a unique identification number to every Indian.”
