Polaris Wireless completes field trials for 3G network in India

Green Corner , August 06, 2012

Polaris Wireless has completed field trials with a tier I Indian wireless operator’s 3G network. The trials were undertaken to prove compliance with norms prescribed by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for location based services.

Polaris Wireless conducted trials in the Kolkata metropolitan area to demonstrate the effectiveness of Polaris Wireless Location Signatures (Polaris WLS) in urban 3G networks.

The DoT mandate for location based services specifies accuracy levels of 30 to 95 per cent within two years of adoption for a range of 50 to 300 meters in urban areas. Polaris Wireless achieved accuracy levels of 62 to 99 percent in the 3G field trials in Kolkata.
